The Free To X plan continues to go ahead quickly and with the next two (imminent) activations, there will be 50 stations service on the Autostrade per l'Italia (Aspi) network to have an infrastructure for fast charging dedicated to electric cars. The company, therefore, is arrived halfway through of his project. As we know, the goal is that of getting to equip 100 service stationsalong the motorway network managed by ASPI with high-power recharging points by the end of 2023.
The work, of course, continues and the company is ready to continue. reports that it has completed the work of another 20 stationsalong the network, while another 10 are under construction. This is certainly good news. Electricity users in Italy have always had to contend with the problem of the lack of recharging stations on the motorway. A problem that complicates travel since it forces you to leave the highways to look for a station where you can quickly fill up on energy.

Thanks to the work of Free To X, this gap is finally being progressively filled. The work to be done, however, is; still a lot. In the latest report on the state of the Italian charging network, Motus-Ehad highlighted that the growth of this infrastructure is been severely limited by the non-publication of the notices required by law to allow operators to massively install the columns on the main road network. In this regard, the general secretary of Motus-E Francesco Naso had commented:
The motorway concessionaires that have not started installing the charging points on their own are required by law to publish tenders for the installation of the columns, but we understand that no one has so far launched tenders for the assignment of the sub-concession for charging of electric vehicles. We hope that after years of postponements this Government will finally be able to shed light on the issue, thus ensuring that Italy too can have a widespread and indispensable recharging network on the motorways.

In any case, on the front of the expansion of the recharging infrastructure on the motorways, Aspi has announced another novelty; important. In fact, he let it be known that he had started the activities; for the assignment of high-power recharge services as regards the remaining service areas not included in the Free To X plan, which other operators will have access to. The aim is therefore to cover the entire motorway network managed by ASPI with charging points. Roberto Tomasi, Chief Executive Officer of Autostrade per l'Italia, commented:
We are extremely proud to be among the main interpreters of the energy transition and mobility in Italy. sustainable in Italy. Through the electrification plan of the motorway network, we want to give a concrete answer to the challenge of the sustainability revolution, in the face of a market – that of full electric vehicles – in strong growth. The motorway therefore becomes more and more; a central infrastructure for the development of the country in the name of technology and innovation, creating benefits in terms of employment and economics.
We remind you that the columns installed by Free To X allow electric cars to be supplied with energy up to a maximum power of 300 kW.
