2023 starts positively for the Italian used car market. ACI, in fact, took a picture of this market in the first month of the new year which shows that the changes of ownership are going to take place. of four wheels net of mini-transfers (temporary transfers in the name of the dealer pending resale to the end customer) increased by 10.7% compared to the same period of 2022.
An encouraging result even if ACI underlines that the daily average drops to a plus; modest +5.4% due to the presence of an extra working day in January 2023. For every 100 new cars in January, 192 second-hand ones were sold.
GOOD DIESEL AND PETROL
Entering more and more; in detail, the ACI report on the trend of the used car market in Italy in January 2023 highlights the strong demand for petrol and diesel modelswhich obtain a share of 37.6% and 45.8% respectively. Overall, therefore, they can count on a market share of 83.4%.
The share of hybrid cars is growing on the second-hand market. Specifically, in January 2023 the petrol hybrid reached 5.2% (3.0% in 2022). There was also a sharp increase in the sale and purchase of bi-fuel petrol/LPG cars (+74% compared to January 2022) which in January are in third place with a market share of 7.1%. And the 100% electric ones? In the first month of the new year, there's a good day. was a sharp contraction of 15.7% with a market share of just 0.4%.
Looking at the data relating to mini-volumes, the record goes to diesel cars ( 52.6%) which contrasts with the excellent result of petrol hybrids which close with a share of 5.9% but with an overall increase of 90.7%. The petrol/LPG models also did very well with an overall increase of 90.7% which closed January with a share of 7.3% with an increase of more than 100%.
Bad, however, radiation. The ACI report highlights that in January 2023 the replacement rate is 50%. amounted to 0.68 (68 were deregistered for every 100 new cars). This is a drop of 15% compared to the same month of 2022 (-19.1% in terms of daily variation).
