– It is important that inflation clearly turns down this year, says Riksbank Governor Erik Thedéen at a press conference.

Furthermore, the Riksbank has decided to sell government bonds from April so that the holding of securities are decreasing at a faster rate.

– There is a justified focus on the fact that high interest rates affect the household economy. You have to pay more for your mortgage. But for the average household that earns an average of SEK 45,000 and has a mortgage of 1.3 million, inflation hits its purchasing power much harder than interest payments and its increases have. That is why it is so important to bring inflation down, says Erik Thedéen according to SVT.

The Riksbank expects inflation to stabilize around two percent in 2024.
