Domestic. The security police sees an increase in the number of threats against Sweden and describes the recent development of events as “serious”. Sweden is considered to have become a greater focus for violent Islamism globally.

The Muslim reactions after, among other things, the Koran burning outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm in January have been extensive.
Säpo has previously stated that the situation can be threatening and the assessment is now that the security situation has deteriorated .
According to the authority, this should be seen in the light of the deteriorating security situation in the outside world and events such as the internationally recognized LVU campaign which is directed at the Swedish social services.
“After the recent events can the Security Police see in the intelligence flow that the threats of attacks have increased”, they write in a press release and continue:
“The development means that Sweden is considered to be in greater focus than before for violent Islamism globally.”
Säpo has not made a decision on any change to the terror threat level. It is still at an elevated level.
“The terrorist threat level is based on a long-term assessment, which means that if the development continues over time, an increase in the terrorist threat level may occur,” writes Säpo.
