GPU rumours: GeForce RTX 4070 to be available in April

Nvidia introduces the new GPU generation Ada Lovelace from top to bottom. After the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (test) in January, the GeForce RTX 4070 will logically follow, which will bring less performance at a lower price. The speculation about the equipment is accompanied by a reference to the release date.

RTX 4070 “in stock” in April

The VideoCardz website, which is usually well-informed in such matters, reports that board partners, i.e. the graphics card manufacturers, were allegedly informed by Nvidia that the market launch is expected to take place in April. A picture shows the alleged embargo document, in which a lot of information has been made unrecognizable. There is no date in the columns for the dates for presentations and tests. But April is clearly visible in the “On-Shelf” column. At least that's the current status, there can always be changes in the schedule for new products.

The status of the rumors about the key data

There has been a lot of speculation about the specifications of the GeForce RTX 4070. There were indications that two GPU variants (AD104-250 and AD104-251) could be used. It is currently assumed that the number of shader units has been reduced from 7,680 on the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti with AD104-400 to 5,888. In addition, the GPU should clock significantly lower at 1,920 MHz. In combination, the power consumption of the graphics card drops from 285 watts to 200 watts. On the other hand, there are no changes to the memory: 12 GB of GDDR6X should be attached to the 192-bit interface.
