Raid against the oligarchs behind the Azov Battalion and Zelenskyi

Ihor Kolomoisky's hunting cabin has been investigated by the Ukrainian intelligence service SBU, reports Morgonposten.

The 59-year-old oligarch is suspected of embezzling more than ten billion kroner from two oil companies where he was previously majority owner.

Kolomojskyi's hunting lodge was used after the 2014 coup d'état as the headquarters of the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion, which the oligarch also financed. Today, the Azov Regiment is subordinate to the National Guard of Ukraine.

Ihor Kolomoiskyi himself is a practicing Jew and also holds Israeli citizenship. He is one of the so-called oligarchs who seized a large part of Ukraine's resources at the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Kolomojskyi helped Volodymyr Zelenskiy in connection with his presidential election campaign in Ukraine, and also owned the television channel that Zelensky to a famous comedian. Zelenskyi starred in a TV series that fictionally depicted him being elected president to fight widespread corruption in the country.

In 2020, the United States imposed sanctions on Kolomoiskyi. The oligarch is accused of having laundered SEK 55 billion in shell companies and bought industries and commercial properties around the United States. He allegedly set up one of America's largest Ponzi scams and is one of the country's largest property owners in the Midwest, writes Morgonposten.
