Poco expands the X series with the two new Android smartphones X5 5G and X5 Pro 5G. Compared to the predecessor X4 Pro 5G, the X5 5G offers hardly any significant changes at the same price. The X5 Pro 5G gets a new OLED screen with thinner bezels and a more powerful processor from Qualcomm for 50 euros more.
X5 5G is more a downgrade for the same price
The Poco X5 5G may be one of the two successors to the X4 Pro 5G, but in a way it's the same smartphone with the same starting price of $299.90. The details also show minor changes for the worse, paying tribute to global inflation and more expensive supply chains. For example, the primary camera only works with 48 instead of 108 MP, the selfie camera with 13 instead of 16 MP and the battery can be charged with a maximum of 33 instead of 67 W. Poco offers a larger memory configuration with 8 GB/256 GB instead of 6 GB/128 GB for 349.90 euros.

Reduced prices from the market launch
For the market launch of the Poco X5 5G in the colors green, blue and Black from February 7th, reduced prices of 249.90 euros and 299.90 euros respectively are planned. Display
The specifications in the areas of camera (108 MP) and battery (67 W) known from the X4 Pro 5G are only restored by the new X5 Pro 5G, but now with prices starting at 349.90 euros for the 6 GB/128 GB variant costs 50 euros more. This is accompanied by additional upgrades in other areas, including the display, processor and connectivity.
The new screen has 6.67 inches, 1,080 × 2,400 pixels and 120 Hz on an AMOLED panel, although it appears to have the same specifications as that of the X4 Pro 5G, but a “flow” panel has recently been used, which extends over a foldable Segment in the lower area separates from the previous variant. The panel can be controlled from the back so that the “chin” of the smartphone is significantly smaller. The X5 Pro 5G is also thinner and lighter than its predecessor. New processor with more performance cores
For the X5 Pro 5G, there is a switch from the Snapdragon 695 to the 778G, which offers twice as many performance cores based on the Cortex-A78 and is equipped with a more powerful GPU. The SoC change is accompanied by faster LPDDR5 type RAM instead of LPDDR4X. In addition, the integrated Snapdragon X53 modem achieves slightly higher transfer rates for both LTE and 5G.
The colors black, blue and yellow are planned for the German market launch of the X5 Pro 5G on February 7, as well as initially reduced prices of 319.90 euros and 369.90 euros.
