Ryzen with 3D V-Cache: AMD reveals prices and dates for 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7800X3D


When exactly will the new Ryzen 7000 X3D be released and what will they cost? AMD has now answered these questions. Just in February, the top models Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D for 699 and 599 US dollars will start. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D will come much later.

7950X3D and 7900X3D first, 7800X3D later

On February 28, 2023, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 16 cores and up to 5.7 GHz clock and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D with 12 cores and up to 5.6 GHz clock will be available, writes AMD on Twitter. This means that the promised February is just about made it; a day later March begins.

But one model is left out for the time being: The Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which with 8 cores and a maximum clock speed of 5.0 GHz is the entry into this special series, will only be available on April 6, 2023. Its price is listed as $449. For the first time, AMD is also revealing the base clock, which is 4.2 GHz.

X3D stands for more L3 cache for games

< p class="p text-width">The “X3D” stands for the additional L3 cache that is “stacked on top” of one of the CPU chiplets. AMD speaks of 3D V-Cache (V for vertical). The additional amount of 64 MB of L3 cache ensures better performance, especially in games. That's why AMD calls these models the “ultimate gaming processors”.

In the previous socket AM4 generation, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D was the only one to debut 3D cache Given the technology and does a great job even against AMD's new generation without a 3D cache in games. According to selected benchmarks from AMD, the successor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for socket AM5, should increase by 21 to 30 percent, depending on the title.
