The EU is testing deliveries with drones in Stockholm

Domestic. Stockholm has been selected as one of three European cities to participate in the EU project Cityam, which aims to standardize rules and guidelines for the use of drone technology for delivery and surveillance services, according to a press release.

The project is led by Kista Science City in collaboration with the City of Stockholm and the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority, together with several other organizations in industry and academia.

The test will last for three years and will focus on to develop tools for urban planning, find suitable landing sites for the drones and create an ecosystem that enables the successful expansion of drone-based transport systems.

The goal is to contribute to a more sustainable urban development, where drone technology can play an increasingly important role .

With the increasing number of drones in urban areas, it is important to develop strategies and tools to manage them efficiently and safely.

Stockholm is therefore an ideal choice to participate in this pilot project, and the results from Cityam will contribute to a more unified European strategy for the use of drone technology in urban environments, according to the principals.

In the project, 13 parties from industry, academia and cities collaborate on behalf of Baltic Sea Region. For three years, these must test, evaluate and prepare sustainable solutions for mobility in the lower airspace in Europe's cities.
