Can be slow to receive digital mail

The government wants to investigate the possibilities of introducing an obligation for private individuals and companies to receive digital mail and an obligation for authorities, municipalities and regions to send digital mail. However, any possibility of signing the letters is not investigated.

The government has therefore given the postal financing­investigation an additional directive to investigate these issues.

– It is important that public activities keep up with the digital development and work to ensure that digital items are secure. Increased use of digital mail also has great savings potential, and it is therefore important to increase use, says Minister of Civil Affairs Erik Slottner.

Some additional directive that citizens should be able to sign electronic documents with their e-identification – such as you can do in almost all other developed countries – but not available this time either.

Instead, a website or app with associated connection to the Bank-ID service must be developed for each type of document to be signed, which leads to large IT revenues for the banks' jointly owned company Bank-ID.

Through the IDAS regulation, however, Sweden has been forced to investigate how a state Bank-ID can be designed. The authority “Digg”, which works on that matter, is to submit a first report to the government today.
