Domestic. The Swedish defense is preparing for a major upgrade in the form of more modern weapons and capabilities. Defense Minister Pål Jonson tells SVT that it is about the biggest rearmament since the 1950s.

The focus is now on new technologies such as autonomous drones, space capabilities and improved cyber defenses.
The defense has already built a strong base, but now is the time to invest in technology and capabilities which are not available today.
Jonson underlines the importance of space capabilities in modern warfare and the improvements hoped to achieve with drones and longer-range artillery.
Defence has already sent its proposals to the government which will be reviewed by the defense committee before a decision is made.
This rearmament will strengthen the position of the Swedish defense and provide an increased ability to protect the country and its citizens, according to the defense minister.
