The man claims to be angry after Rasmus Paludan's publicized Koran burnings and wants to carry out the Torah burning to start a discussion.

He had previously applied for permission for the campaign on Saturday.

However, the Egyptian withdrew his application and says he wants to carry out the action in a couple of weeks instead, when the situation has calmed down a bit. The 34-year-old is also planning to burn a Bible on Sergel's square in Stockholm.

– My action is not aimed at the Swedish Jewish minority. I am standing outside the Israeli embassy because I want to remind of Israel's killing of Palestinian children, the 34-year-old tells DN.

He also states that during trips to the Middle East in recent years, he has constantly been criticized for he “is Swedish” and that he wants to show that freedom of expression in Sweden can also be used to burn other holy books.

– But I am not sure that I will get the police's permission for that. I think Sweden has a double standard there, he tells DN.

The man admits to the newspaper that he is aware that his planned actions may constitute hate crimes but that he still wants to carry them out.
