The Government has recently released over 700 million euros from the Pnrr which will be used to build over 21,000 new charging stations in Italy by 2025. News that had been positively received given that on paper it will allow the charging station to be used by the public. to accelerate the creation of a widespread infrastructure for recharging electric cars in our country. However, on this issue Motus-E has sounded an alarm.

In fact, these funds risk becoming unusable without rapid government intervention on the implementing measures.

The criteria and methods for the use of resources, in fact, they are in many respects inapplicable in practice, jeopardizing the goal of installing over 21,000 new charging points for electric vehicles with EU funding.

YOU MUST HURRY

Motus-E thus highlighted a series of issues that would jeopardize this important project for the development of mobility; electricity in Italy. The general secretary of Motus-E, Francesco Naso, commented:

The deadlines indicated for the presentation of the projects cannot be reconciled with the time necessary for the green light to be granted to the infrastructures by the local administrations. Without an urgent change or the creation of a ‘fast track’ authorization, it may be literally impossible to use the available funds. We already have reported this problem in the past and we are at your complete disposal to immediately discuss a solution together with the ministries and bodies involved.

For Francesco Naso, the time available to intervene is limited. little. However, the executive “has all the tools and skills to solve the problem and ensure effective use of the resources made available by the European Commission”. Another issue on which Motus-E points its finger is that of the locations where the recharging points will have to be built. Currently, in fact, the law rewards installation in fuel service areas. For the association, this is a misaligned approach with respect to the real needs of motorists who drive an electric car.

Those who drive an electric car know well that its use presupposes different routines from the past. Leaving aside the domestic ones, something else is often done during the recharges, taking advantage of the columns located in the car parks at the offices, the activities commercial or recreational. Standing still in a gas station, generally devoid of activities; non-oil, it is not; certainly the best and most practical solution; safe for users, especially if the vending machine is located in isolated areas.

Therefore, Motus-E requests urgent and targeted intervention by the Government to allow to start the tenders efficiently and within the pre-established times, avoiding a dispersion of resources that the country certainly cannot; afford.
