Nvidia's latest graphics driver, the GeForce 528.24 WHQL “Game Ready” brings DLSS 3 (test) in Deliver Us Mars, Hitman 3 and Marvel's Midnight Suns. In addition, the update comes with optimizations for the action role-playing game Forspoken, which launched today, and the Dead Space remake, which will be released on Friday.

DLSS in 3 × 2 and 2 × 3

As the second game-ready driver of the young year, the GeForce 528.24 WHQL follows on from the GeForce 528.02 WHQL that was released together with the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti (test) on January 5th. There are no new graphics cards this time – the GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti are currently being traded for the second quarter of 2023 – but there are new games. On the one hand, Square Enix has already launched a new action RPG in the open game world with Forspoken, although the first ratings are cautious. And the remake of the horror game Dead Space, which was released in autumn 2008, is still eagerly awaited. For both titles, the GeForce 528.24 brings the usual Day 0 optimizations and support for DLSS – and especially with Forspoken, the upscaling technology could be essential in view of the immense system requirements.

The frame generation newly introduced with GeForce RTX 4000 is also finding its way into other games as part of DLSS 3. In this regard, Nvidia names the action-adventure Deliver Us Mars, which will be released on February 2nd, and the tactical RPG Marvel's Midnight Suns, but also Hitman 3. The stealth shooter received ray tracing in the middle of last year, but the performance was miserable – here too So upscaling is sorely needed, but so far the game was limited to DLSS 2 (DLSS Super Resolution).

Fixed and still open bugs

As usual for every new Game Ready release, lists Nvidia also lists a number of fixed and still open but already known bugs in the official release notes (PDF).

Fixed Issues

  • Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Lightroom instability with 528.02.

  • [Adobe Premiere Pro] ProRes RAW files appear completely black when previewing.
  • Autodesk Alias: Expected transparent window appears opaque.< /li>
  • OctaneBench 2020 fails intermittently due to render engine failure.

Some errors with HDR content as well as problems with Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) and Deep Learning Dynamic Super Resolution (DLDSR) are still problematic. And the flickering in Watch Dogs 2 (test) when using a GeForce RTX 4090 has also been part of the release notes for many weeks.

Open Issues

  • Toggling HDR on and off in-game causes game stability issues when non-native resolution is used.
  • Monitor may briefly flicker on waking from display sleep if DSR/DLDSR is enabled.
  • [Halo Wars 2] In-game foliage is larger than normal and displays constant flickering.
  • [Steam version] Forza Horizon 4 may freeze after 15-30 minutes of gameplay.
  • [ GeForce RTX 4090] Watch Dogs 2 may display flickering when staring at the sky.
