The growing data volume introduced by O2 in spring 2022 with the then new Grow tariff will become the standard for the new mobile phone tariffs that will be introduced this year from April 5th. The provider starts with the smallest tariff with more data volume and increases the speeds in some cases, which also applies to “Unlimited”.

Telefónica/O2 presents itself in April with the “O2 Mobile” tariffs and equips them with the grow feature, which last year could be booked in the campaign period from May 3rd to September 5th, but then officially until October 4th, but is currently still available. The grow feature stands for a growing data volume, which is automatically increased by the provider from year to year until a maximum noted in the footnotes of the tariffs has been reached. The old Grow plan starts at 40 GB per month, grows by 10 GB per year and can reach up to 240 GB per month.

New tariffs from 22.99 euros per month

The new portfolio is divided into the mobile phone tariffs O2 Mobile S for 22.99 euros, S Boost for 27.99 euros, M for 32.99 euros, M Boost for 37.99 euros, L for 42.99 euros and L Boost for 47.99 euros. There are also tariffs with unlimited data volume: Unlimited Basic for EUR 32.99, Unlimited Smart for EUR 42.99 and Unlimited Max for EUR 62.99 – each per month with a two-year term, unless a Flex option for monthly cancellation has been selected . The included data volume ranges from 4 GB to 140 GB and increases annually by 1 GB to 10 GB. Depending on the tariff, the achievable maximum is up to 24 GB, 28 GB, 125 GB, 150 GB, 270 GB or 340 GB.

Currently still a campaign with more data volume

The provider also advertises with more data volume and higher speeds. For example, an increase of 25 percent to 25 GB is mentioned for the O2 Mobile M (32.99 euros). The still current O2 Free M with 20 GB, which costs 29.99 euros, is used as a comparison. Currently, however, the free tariffs are being offered as part of a campaign that runs until April 4 for new customers with double the data volume and the connect option at no extra charge. The graphic below shows the mobile phone tariffs available from April 5 and the services they include, such as the growing data volume per year or the Connect option for sharing the data volume on up to ten devices.

Higher speeds for unlimited tariffs

In addition, the smallest S tariff now also offers access to the 5G network and achieves 300 Mbit/s instead of 225 Mbit/s in the downlink. There are also higher speeds in the revised Unlimited tariffs, which for the Basic from 2 Mbit/s to 3 Mbit/s for downlink and uplink and for the Smart from formerly 10 Mbit/s for both directions to now 15 Mbit/s only in the rise downlink. The Unlimited Max still reaches up to 500 Mbit/s and 50 Mbit/s for downlink and uplink. Through the bank, however, the mobile phone tariffs are 3 euros more expensive per month. With the combination advantage, for example with landline and mobile communications, a second tariff can be reduced by 50 percent in price, and “young people” also receive a monthly price advantage of 10 euros.
