According to TechCrunch, the new M2 Pro Mac mini feels like a Formula 1 car with a set of new tires and a full tank. The reviewer had been using the M1 version since its release and while it still performs well, you notice that it is not as fast as when it was new. The M2 Pro didn't budge during the test, so everything worked super fast, including heavy photo editing. Even using Chrome was no problem, which is known as a memory hog. The reviewer also compares the Mac mini to the Mac Studio. While the Mac mini M2 Pro performs better in benchmarks, the M1 Max chip in the Mac Studio has clear advantages due to extra CPU. However, he does not think the M2 Pro version is a necessary upgrade and states that the average user will not notice a difference between the M2 and M2 Pro versions.

The Verge has already tried the Mac mini 2023
The Verge calls the Mac mini more attractive than ever. There is choice for both the average user (thanks to the M2 version) and for the professional (thanks to the M2 Pro version). The biggest plus points in the tested M2 Pro model are the rock-solid performance in such a small housing, the extra ports and improved HDMI and things like WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. One drawback that The Verge notes in the review is that there are no ports on the front. The Mac Studio (with multiple USB-C ports and an SD card slot at the front) scores points with that. And speaking of SD card slot: it is a pity that this is missing in the Mac mini. The Mac mini is the perfect middle ground between the stylish iMac and the ultra-powerful Mac Studio, according to The Verge. You could even call it a Mac Studio Junior.
