In the last few weeks alone, there have been about 20 shootings and explosions, two of which have resulted in deaths.

Ulf Kristersson tells SVT that the police are doing what they can to prevent the escalating spiral of violence, but that far-reaching and time-consuming measures will be required to get rid of gang-related crime.

– I think we have come so far in this development that we have to do things we don't done before, these are the domestic terrorists of our time, he says.

The Stockholm area is the worst affected and the police have decided on temporary reinforcements. Kristersson also believes that the police need more tools to clear up crimes linked to gang crime.

The government and the Sweden Democrats have, among other things, commissioned to investigate the possibility of introducing visitation zones and anonymous witnesses as measures to curb the violence.< /p>

The proposals have been criticized for violating privacy, but Kristersson says that you have to do things you haven't done before to be able to fight the escalating gang crime.
