Microsoft is testing the latest new features for the Windows 11 file explorer. A gallery for the directory tree and recommendations, which for some users can also be equated with advertising, are evaluated accordingly and can be found already as a hidden ID in the current insider preview of the operating system.
Microsoft is continuing to rebuild the file explorer
As the website Deskmodder has reported, Microsoft is once again preparing some new functions for its current operating system, which this time affect the Windows 11 file explorer and should expand it accordingly.
The new 10.0.25272.1000 rs_prerelease, the full name of the updated Insider Preview with the new build 25272, brings a total of seven new ID entries, all of which relate to File Explorer.
- FETTOM, 39661369
- FileExplorerInsights, 38613007
- FERecommendations, 38664959
- FERecommendationsUdk, 40064642
- FileExplorerGallery, 41040327*
- XAMLFEHome, 41076133
- FEMNB, 40950262
*) can already be activated!
As with the enhanced Start Menu and revamped Task Manager, Microsoft is working to bring more XAML-type elements into File Explorer. Behind the ID FERecommendations are the recommendations, which are mostly viewed critically by users, and which can already be found in shell32.dll.mui, which is essential for the user interface.

While most ID entries cannot yet be activated, Deskmodder has already been able to activate the gallery in File Explorer using the corresponding ID.
Presumably locally and on OneDrive saved media are bundled. It currently looks as if Microsoft wants to replace the previous libraries with it.

As the Twitter user @FireCubeStudios reports, the detail view for files in File Explorer is also being extensively revised. Files should be shared faster directly via this dialog.
