The verdict relates to an incident in the summer of 2021 when a 22-year-old man was shot inside a hair salon on Marklandsgatan in Gothenburg.

From the surveillance video submitted as evidence, it appears that two masked men shot a man from behind with a total of 11 shots in the head, neck and back.

– The murder is a clear example of an act that has been particularly reckless. It can almost be described as an execution and the victim has had no opportunity to defend himself, protect himself or escape, says Robert Eneljung, councilor and legal judge in the case.

The district court sentences one of the shooters and a man who helped at murder to 12 years in prison each. The shooter is also convicted of additional crimes, including threatening another customer at the salon and assaulting and threatening a hairdresser.

The other killer is still at large.

– There has been one more suspect for the murder, but those criminal suspicions have been dropped due to a lack of evidence, said chamber prosecutor Maria Thorell to SVT when the charges were brought.

The people involved, victims and perpetrators, according to the police, must have belonged to same criminal network. The motive may have been that the 22-year-old wanted to drop out.

– Before his death, he wanted to leave the network, says Stefan Olofsson, head of investigations at the serious crime section in Greater Gothenburg, to SVT Nyheter Väst.

The convicted must also pay damages to the murdered man's relatives.
