Apple would doubt the right to exist of the upcoming iPhone SE 2024, also called the iPhone SE 4. According to a reliable analyst, Apple will postpone or even cancel mass production of the iPhone SE 4.

Apple has now completed three generations of the iPhone SE, with the iPhone SE 2022 being the most recent version. There have been some rumors recently about the iPhone SE 4, which should be released in 2024. The rumors were mainly about the screen of the iPhone SE 4, which showed that Apple is still unsure about the size and screen technology to be used. But that doubt may not be necessary at all if Apple decides to put the production of a new iPhone SE 4 on hold or to cancel it altogether.
‘iPhone SE 4 is coming anyway not’
The information comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst who is often well aware of Apple's plans. In a series of tweets, he says it appears that Apple is likely to delay or cancel plans to mass-produce the iPhone SE 4 altogether. The reason for this would mainly be related to the disappointing sales of recent affordable and mid-range iPhones, such as the current iPhone SE 3, the iPhone 13 mini and the iPhone 14 Plus.

Another factor to consider, according to the analyst, is the cost of the possible new screen. Apple would opt for a larger, full-screen design for the iPhone SE 4, similar to the iPhone XR, but this does result in higher production costs and therefore a higher selling price. That could be a reason for Apple to reconsider what the iPhone SE 4 will look like and see if it's worth the investment. This may ultimately ensure that the iPhone SE 4 will not be available (for the time being).
But scrapping the iPhone SE 4 also has advantages for Apple. According to the analyst, companies like Apple will face major challenges in 2023 due to the economic recession. By canceling the development and thus the releases of a less popular product, Apple has more room to absorb other financial setbacks. All in all, the future for a possible iPhone SE 4 does not look very bright, although these are still rumors.
