The IdeaPad Pro 5 and 5i notebooks, as well as the IdeaPad Slim 5 and 5i, which are in the consumer segment, will receive several upgrades from Lenovo ahead of CES 2023. The consumer devices now also offer 16:10 and partly OLED, AMD Ryzen 7000 and Intel Raptor Lake are also new. The graphics cards are RTX 4000.
The new IdeaPad Pro are the first notebooks from Lenovo to use the AMD Ryzen 7000 for the mobile sector. Lenovo names the first CPU models from the U and HS series, but details on the CPUs are only expected at the AMD keynote at CES 2023 in Las Vegas in early January. The same applies to the RTX 4000 laptop GPUs that are sometimes offered, for which nothing is known except for the names. Depending on the model, Lenovo will rely on the GeForce RTX 4050. When it comes to notebook graphics cards, it should also be noted that, despite the new name, they could theoretically still use amps alongside Ada Lovelace. Nvidia wants to announce the details of the mobile solutions on January 3rd from 5 p.m. German time.
IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 8 in 14" and 16"
In relation to the actual notebooks, the IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 8 in 14" and 16″ the beginning, which should reach German retailers from May next year at prices starting at 1,099 euros each. In addition to the new CPUs and GPUs, the devices are characterized by displays in 16:10 format, which have now also arrived in this class. A wide variety of IPS panels with 1400p, 1600p and 1800p resolution at 60 Hz and sometimes also 120 Hz are available. All details can be found in the tables for each new product.

Same notebooks with Intel Raptor Lake
< p class="p text-width">The same notebooks with only Intel processors run under the name IdeaPad Pro 5i Gen 8. The “i” stands for Intel and two available H processors from the Raptor Lake series. Also in this variant, the displays are 14" or 16″ large and display their pixels on an IPS panel in 16:10 format. The GPUs are the same as the AMD variant, although the smaller model can be equipped with a discrete GPU.
Intel starts earlier and more expensive
If you pick up the IdeaPad Pro 5i, you can get hold of the notebook in April 2023, a month earlier than in the AMD version, but with prices starting at 1,199 euros, you have to pay 100 euros more compared to the AMD version.

IdeaPad Slim 5 for the first time with OLED
< p class="p text-width">Smaller and lighter are the IdeaPad Slim 5 and IdeaPad Slim 5i, whose names again stand for the two AMD and Intel versions. With these notebooks, Lenovo is bringing the OLED option known from more expensive devices to the consumer segment for the first time. Offered alongside several 1200p IPS models or 1400p variants, the 1200p 60Hz OLED screen achieves 100 percent DCI-P3.
Ryzen 7000 also with Zen 3 Plus cores
The smaller chassis only accommodates AMD Ryzen 7000U, whereby, as with the HS models, it should be noted that the third digit in the model designation for Zen 3(+) is a “3” or the newer Zen 4 cores are a “3”. “4” stands, as has been officially known since the announcement of the Ryzen 7000. The U models are in the 15 to 28 watt class, the HS variants in the 35 watt class. While the IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 8 also has newer Zen 4 cores, the IdeaPad Slim 5 still relies entirely on Zen 3(+) for the Ryzen 7000U. Unlike the IdeaPad Pro 5(i), Lenovo does not offer discrete graphics cards from AMD or Nvidia in this class.
