Nvidia will gradually disable the GameStream feature, which can stream games installed locally on the PC and rendered games via the Shield consoles to TV sets, starting in mid-February. In the future, the GeForce Now and Steam Link services will serve as alternatives.

< p class="p text-width">As announced by Nvidia on the customer service website, GameStream is to be gradually switched off from mid-February 2023. So far, the feature has made it possible to stream games in up to 4K with up to 60 FPS from the PC to the TV using the Shield console. The shutdown is said to be accompanied by an update of the Nvidia Games app.

SHIELD owners can use Steam Link to stream games from their PC to SHIELD. Steam Link supports 4K streaming and allows streaming to many devices, including PCs, phones, and tablets. Gamers can also stream PC games from the cloud to their SHIELD TV using NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW service.

AMD Link without direct competition for the time being
In the sub-Reddit r/nvidia, however, numerous players are expressing their incomprehension and anger at the shutdown of GameStream, especially with regard to the fact that AMD is using the opponent link as part of the release of the new Radeon RX 7900 XTX and XT (test) with AV1 and 4-player support.
