AV Linux MX Edition 21.2.1: Multimedia distribution for artists and creative people

AV Linux MX Edition is a multimedia-centric distribution for artists and creatives who work with music, photos, and videos using a free Linux-based operating system. The latest version MXE-21.2.1 is based on the Debian-derived MX Linux with Xfce desktop and an optimized kernel.

Linux distribution for creative minds

In addition to the more than 57,000 software packages from the official Debian repositories, AV Linux also provides users with its own package sources with numerous curated multimedia applications, tools and plugins, including Ardor 7.2, a powerful open source digital audio workstation (DAW), KXStudio for the professional Audio production and Cinelerra for video production.

In addition to the standard work environment, which is realized with the lightweight Xfce desktop in version 4.16, there is an optional edition with the adaptable desktop environment Enlightenment in version 0.25 to choose from, which in addition to AV Linux MXE 21.2.1 as AV Linux MXDE- EFL 21.2.2.

In both cases, the basis is the Liquorix Kernel, version 6.0.0-10, which has been specially optimized for multimedia and gaming workloads and particularly low latencies, as well as MX Linux 21.2.1 (” Wildflower”).

For AV Linux MX Edition 21.2.1 the Liquorix- kernel, a high-performance kernel optimized for streaming and very low latency requirements in multimedia production.

In addition, the Linux distribution can now be used with software packages based on Bypass AppImage.

Current software and useful scripts

For everyday work, new software packages such as the Mozilla Firefox 108 and Chromium 108 as well as the free office suite LibreOffice 7.4.3. The powerful graphics suite Blender 3.4, which comes with improved Wayland support, has also been added.

Small, predefined scripts are intended to make life more pleasant for creative people in AV Linux MX Edition 21.2.1 and automate recurring work steps and tasks permanently if desired.

Should a certain software not be in can still be found in the AV Linux package collection in the Debian repositories, these can easily be installed from external sources in a shielded sandbox environment using the free Flatpak container format.
