According to Fox News, the former president flagged his big announcement early Wednesday on his account on his own social media platform Truth.

“America needs a superhero,” Trump wrote cryptically.< /p>

There was speculation at the time about whether Trump had his sights set on becoming Speaker of the House of Representatives.

On Thursday, as he was about to deliver his big announcement, Trump declared that he is now launching “Donald Trump Digital Trading Cards”, a number of digital trading cards reminiscent of 1990s hockey images. On the cards, the former president can be seen, among other things, posing in a Superman costume and the like.

According to Trump, the cards are a perfect Christmas present, but the launch is receiving harsh criticism on social media.

“Donald Trump's big announcement' appears to be that he still believes people will give him $99 when he asks for it,” writes NBC's Ginger Gibson.

The digital cards, which don't actually exist but are made up of so-called NFTs, namely cost 99 dollars each.
