In the election campaign, a reduction from 30.5 to 6 percent was promised. But a reduction to the level that was promised in the election campaign would be contrary to the EU's emission requirements, according to the government, which in turn could result in multibillion-dollar fines for the Swedish part.

The government has now asked the Energy Agency to review how much the reduction obligation can still be lowered, without the EU being able to fine Sweden. Then only a “marginal” reduction remained, according to DN.

Employment Minister Ebba Busch (KD) now refuses to speak to DN about the matter, and refers to “lack of time”.
