Puppy Linux 22.12: Ultra lightweight for older systems based on Slackware

The minimalist operating system Puppy Linux 22.12 (“S15Pup”) based on one of the oldest still active Linux distributions Slackware has now been released. Like its basis, Puppy Linux – following the KISS principle – does without unnecessary ballast and is a real ultra-lightweight for older computer systems.

Puppy Linux 22.12, also called “S15Pup”, was built entirely from binary TXZ packages and optimized for Intel IA64 and AMD64. With the latest version 2.4.3 of the lightweight window manager Joe's Window Manager (JWM), especially compared to the full-fledged desktop environments Gnome and KDE Plasma, the distribution is particularly suitable for older or even discarded hardware. Puppy Linux 22.12 is based on Slackware Linux 15.0, the operating system was first released on July 17, 1993, making it the oldest distribution still active today and the first to be widely distributed worldwide.
