Last autumn, Poland announced that it wanted the equivalent of 14 trillion kroner from Germany as compensation for the German occupation during the Second World War.
The German government refused – but the Poles have no plans to give up.
Dariusz Pawlos, Poland's new ambassador in Berlin, says in an interview with Die Welt that the Polish government does not see the matter as closed.
He says that a third of Poland's population died during the Second World War.
– I think it is important, especially in times of war, to remember that war crimes do not have a statute of limitations, Pawlos continues.
