It was in June that Sam Brinton assumed the prestigious and well-paid head position at the US Department of Energy. According to Wikipedia, the appointment made Brinton the first openly “gender fluid” person to hold a senior executive position in the US administration.

Brinton has displayed his sexual orientation in many contexts. Among other things, he has said that he engages in so-called “pup play”, which involves men dressing up as dogs and being dominated by their “masters”. In a photograph in a report in Metro Weekly, Brinton poses as the “master” of a leather-clad man with a dog mask, tail and naked tail.

When Brinton got the job at the Department of Energy, many wondered if it was wise to entrust such an important post to a man who dresses up in women's clothes and engages in “dog games.” It was also questioned whether Brinton formally had sufficient credentials for the position. In a complaint about the hiring of the position, an Energy Department employee alleged that Brinton was unqualified and that he was given the job for political reasons.

The critics got water to their mill when it was revealed at the end of November that Brinton had recently been charged with grand larceny. According to the indictment, the theft took place at an airport in Minneapolis on September 16 of this year. Brinton then allegedly stole a suitcase that belonged to a female traveler. Surveillance video from the airport shows, according to the indictment, how Brinton, who himself had no checked luggage, walks up to a conveyor belt in the arrivals hall, takes a blue suitcase from the belt, tears off the luggage tag and hurries away.

The suitcase contained women's clothing. The clothes and the bag together are estimated to have been worth 2,325 dollars, which corresponds to approximately SEK 24,000. The British Daily Mail has reported extensively on the theft charge.

Now Brinton has found himself in trouble with justice again. On Thursday, a court in Las Vegas ordered that he be arrested. The new criminal charges against Brinton relate to yet another bag theft, Fox News reports.

According to a police report obtained by Fox News, Brinton stole a suitcase from a conveyor belt at an airport in Las Vegas on July 6 of this year. The bag contained women's clothing, jewelry and makeup with a total value (including the bag) of $3,670, approximately SEK 38,000. This abuse was also captured by the airport's surveillance cameras.

“Brinton exhibited several signs of abnormal behavior when he took the victim's bag, typical things that suspects often do when they steal luggage,” police wrote in the report after reviewing the surveillance footage.

According to the report, Brinton lifted the suitcase from the conveyor belt and looked at the name tag. Then he put the bag back on the belt and looked around in all directions. Then he took the bag again, looked around again and quickly left.

“Brinton had only checked in one bag that he had already retrieved from the conveyor belt, and had no reason to examine or take any other bags,” the police report states.

The reason why Brinton has only now become the subject of legal action in connection with the theft in Las Vegas, which took place back in July, was that the police were initially unable to identify the man on the surveillance video. But when the theft at the airport in Minneapolis caught the attention of the media and pictures of Brinton were published, Las Vegas police investigators immediately saw that Brinton was the man they were looking for.

Brinton is summoned to a court hearing in Minneapolis on December 19. In parallel with the legal process in Minneapolis, he may have charges pending for the theft in Las Vegas. The maximum sentences that can be imposed are five years in prison for the theft in Minneapolis and ten years in prison for the theft in Las Vegas.

Many are asking why the high-profile transvestite Brinton, who according to media reports has an annual salary of $178,000 – over SEK 1.8 million – and can reasonably afford to buy women's clothing himself, seems to have risked his career to commit seemingly senseless thefts.

“He is a transvestite who likes to dress in stolen women's clothes. He is mentally unstable and cannot control his sick inclinations. Despite this, he still has not been fired from his security-class post in the civil service “, writes author and debater Matt Walsh on Twitter.

The Department of Energy has announced, according to the New York Post, that Brinton is on leave for the time being, but has not answered questions about whether he will continue to collect a salary during the leave.

Two Republican congressmen, Andrew Clyde and Troy Nehls, have called for Brinton to be fired.

The Energy Department has declined to comment on the demands, citing that personnel matters fall under secrecy. The White House has announced that it considers the case a non-political matter and will not comment.
