Building a wall along the border with Mexico was Donald Trump's main election promise.
However, there was no wall with Trump as president, although new barriers were erected in some places at border during his term.
Arizona's Republican governor Doug Ducey is now closing the gaps by building his own improvised wall. It consists of containers stacked on top of each other with spike troughs on top.
Ducey lost the midterm election to Democrat Katie Hobbs and will therefore step down in early January. However, the construction of the “wall” continues and hundreds of containers have been used.
Doug Ducey's wall construction is criticized by the left and by environmental groups. Katie Hobbs says she hasn't decided what to do with the containers after she takes office, but she's considering using them as affordable housing for the homeless and low-income.
