Domestic. EU parliamentarian Sara Skyttedal (KD) wants Sweden to legalize cannabis. She writes that in a debate article in Dagens Nyheter.

“I have been a strong advocate for zero tolerance towards drugs. But I've changed my mind,” writes Sara Skyttedal in DN.
Now she wants to legalize cannabis herself:
“Zero tolerance is rooted in a notion that drugs are indeed different in weight, but that basically the same problem would apply to all forms of use of preparations that are classified as narcotics today. That notion is simply not true.”
Sara Skyttedal also points out that legalization would cut off criminal gangs' income from cannabis.
However, she states that her party is probably the furthest away from wanting to legalize the drug.
“In the future, however, I hope that the debate around drug policy can be conducted on a factual basis where the legislators also shows interest in facts that do not confirm their own political position”, writes Sara Skyttedal in DN.
