Skoda uses new technologies to constantly improve the safety of its cars. For example, for the infotainment system, the manufacturer provides the Traffication app which provides a series of useful information to improve driving safety. Taking advantage of cloud technology and connectivity, this app communicates information about traffic, the presence of accidents on the roads, weather information and more to the driver.
Now, Skoda intends to further improve this application for its cars, also implementing train transit warnings when approaching a level crossing.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
For the time being, this new feature is only available. it is being tested within a pilot project conducted in cooperation with the Czech railway company Leo Express. Taking advantage of the connectivity system; of the car, near the of a level crossing(within 1,000 meters), the infotainment system will go on. to show a notice of the imminent transit of a train. In this way, the driver will have the plenty of time to slow down the car before arriving at the closed level crossing. Especially useful solution in those narrow streets with almost invisible level crossings up to the last meters.
