Honda signs agreement with CATL to supply batteries for its electric cars

Honda takes its electrification strategy one step further, announcing a major new battery supply agreement for its electric cars with CATL. To push the production of electric cars, as we know, it is necessary to have an adequate supply of accumulators.

It is worth noting that the relationship between the two companies dates back to 2020 when Honda had created a #39;strategic alliance with CATL for the development of new battery technologies. An agreement that also covered the recycling of batteries and a supply of accumulators for its electric models. Therefore, the new announcement is part of this collaboration.

SUPPLY UNTIL 2030

Entering more specifically the agreement between the two companies, starting from 2024 and up to 2030, Honda will receive from CATL a supply of batteries equal to 123 GWh. These accumulators will be used for the 100% electric cars of the Japanese manufacturer in the e:N series destined for the Chinese market.

Honda's goal with this move is: to accelerate the expansion of its presence in the battery-powered car segment on the Chinese market. In this regard, we recall that at the beginning of November, the manufacturer had unveiled the e:N2 concept which anticipates the contents of a future new model specifically designed for the Chinese market.

The car manufacturer introduced its first electric models to the Chinese market last April. Let's talk about the e:NS1 and e:NP1 models.
