Economy. The so-called electricity price support can be paid out in February 2023, the government now announces.

On Wednesday, the government will submit a regulation for how the payments of the high-cost protection are to take place.
In the first step, the support will be paid out to households and the plan is for the payments to begin in February 2023 if nothing unforeseen happens.
– For a family in a house in electricity area 4 with consumption of 20,000 kWh per year, it is a matter of support of almost SEK 16,000, says Energy and Business Minister Ebba Busch at a press conference.
The exceptionally high electricity prices, which require “exceptional measures” for households to cope with the economy, according to Minister for the Elderly and Social Insurance Anna Tenje (M).
– Many households have a hard time when electricity prices goes up and therefore the government and the authorities are working hard to ensure that the high-cost protection for electricity prices reaches households during February, says Anna Tenje.
The Social Insurance Agency will pay out the support and the payments to households will be made without an application requirement. The plan is for the payments to begin in February 2023 if nothing unforeseen happens.
The government will come back “in the near future” with a proposal on how companies, associations and other organizations will be able to take part in the high-cost protection.
