EU. The EU Commission wants to sharply increase the price of snus in Sweden, reports Aftonbladet. With the new prices, a can of General loose snus would cost over SEK 120.

According to the proposal, a new excise tax on tobacco is to be introduced so that the price increases by SEK 34 for a can of portion snus and by SEK 62 for a can of loose snus.
The proposal is to be published at the beginning of December, reports Aftonbladet.
Patrik Hildingsson, communications manager for Swedish Match, rages against the EU's plans.
– The already heavily taxed Swede seems to tolerate a high degree of patronage. But here I think we are actually crossing the line, he tells Aftonbladet.
