The Callisto Protocol: Season Pass brings more story and new animations

The Callisto Protocol requires little computing power. The survival thriller in the style of the classic Dead Space also receives new story elements and an additional game mode in the Season Pass. In addition, more death animations are to follow. Work on it will only start later, the developers assure.

The Season Pass, which according to the Video Games Chronicle was briefly described on the Steam shop page, will contain the “Contagion” game mode in addition to a skin bundle, which increases the level of difficulty and makes death permanent. The player's death is also represented with 13 new animations.

Planned only instead of cut out

The developers were then accused online of cutting content from the game in order to be able to sell it later – animations seemed like something rudimentary. However, the CEO of the responsible studio disagreed decisively. Work on the DLCs would only start next year after the release of the action game, fans would have liked additional animations.

That studios start planning or laying the groundwork for DLCs well before release is however not uncommon. Not every employee of a game can consistently work meaningfully in the course of a project, and from a certain point the scope is not increased any further in order to be able to fix errors.

To be clear: We're not holding anything back from the main game for the season pass. We haven't even started work on this content yet. It's all new stuff that we'll be working on in the new year. Fans have asked for EVEN MORE deaths, so we're making it a priority next year.

In addition to the “Contagion” DLC, the “Riot Bundle” will add another area in the game where a horde mode is waiting. There will also be new death animations here. In addition, there is said to be a story extension, for which the Steam site has not yet provided any further information.

Mediocre recommended requirements

The finished game will be released on December 2nd for Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5 and PC. Hardware requirements remain low: GeForce GTX 1070 and Radeon RX 5700 are recommended, 16 gigabytes of RAM and a six-core processor from the third Ryzen generation or Intel's Coffee Lake architecture should also be there. The minimum requirements are only one class lower: According to the system requirements, a slightly older Ryzen or a slow clocking six-core processor from Intel with six instead of twelve threads, eight gigabytes of RAM and an old mid-range graphics card from 2016 are sufficient.
