The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Next Gen Update supports AMD FSR 2 and Nvidia DLSS

The next-gen update of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (test), which is free for owners of the original that was released in May 2015 and will be released on December 14, is supposed to have improved graphics with high-resolution textures and character models and ray tracing, among other things, AMD FSR 2 and Nvidia DLSS.

AMD FSR 2, Nvidia DLSS and an Ultra Plus Preset

In a new trailer, the Polish development studio CD Projekt Red officially reveals that “4K textures” and “4K character models”, “ray tracing” as well as a “60 FPS mode” and a “photo mode” can be expected. In addition, VideoCardz claims to have already received the complete feature set of the next-gen update, which goes even further.

The Witcher 3 Complete Edition therefore offers, according to the official name of the new version, the following upgrades compared to the original, which is more than seven years old.

  • Photo mode for high-resolution images
  • New graphics mode (“preset”) Ultra Plus
  • New 4K textures and 4K character models
  • Support for AMD FSR 2 and Nvidia DLSS
  • Performance mode at 60 FPS for the game consoles
  • Quality mode (4K) at 30 FPS for the game consoles
  • Cross-platform game progression for PC and consoles
  • Ray tracing for better global illumination
  • Multiple new camera angles
  • Improved gameplay

On the PC, the two upsampling technologies AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 and Nvidia DLSS should be available, while on the PlayStation 5 (test) and the Xbox Series X|S (test) , all of which rely on AMD hardware, AMD FSR 2 is to be used. On the next-gen game consoles, you should be able to choose between a performance mode with 60 FPS and a quality mode with 4K @ 30 FPS. The PC also gets a new Ultra Plus preset.

There should also be additions several “quality improvements” as well as improved gameplay and several new camera angles. Cloud storage and cross-platform game progress are also mentioned. The new trailer provides corresponding impressions and further details.
