It was when the conservative satirical account Babylon Bee was banned from Twitter last spring that Elon Musk became interested in buying the social media platform and stopping censorship.
Now the blocking of Babylon has Bee's account suspended. Canadian psychology professor Jordan Peterson is also back on Twitter, Elon Musk now announces. There is also left-wing comedian Kathy Griffin, who was recently suspended after impersonating Elon Musk.
However, no decision has been made regarding Donald Trump's account, according to the new owner.
At the same time, Musk announces that Twitter's new policy means “freedom of speech” but not “freedom of reach”. “Negative and hateful” posts will be able to be read but have reduced circulation and it should not be possible to make money from such tweets.
Note, this applies just to the individual tweet, not the whole account
