In both Norway, Denmark and Finland, food price inflation in both September and October was lower than in Sweden.

Compared to October last year, food prices rose by over 17 percent. The Economic Institute had expected 13.5 percent.

– We believed that the prices would stabilize because world market prices for wheat and rapeseed, for example, have fallen. Exports from Ukraine have also started again, says Erik Glans, economist at the Institute of Economics, to TT.

At the same time, quarterly reports from the grocery trade show that the industry continues to increase its margins. Sweden thus gets a very profitable grocery trade, compared to the neighboring countries.
