The rate of inflation according to CPIF excluding energy also rose, in this case from 7.4 percent in September to 7.9 percent in October.

Food prices continued to skyrocket even between September and October, when these increased by 1.5 percent. This corresponds to an annual rate of 18 percent for food price inflation.

Electricity prices fell by almost 24 percent from September to October, but increased interest costs and rampant prices for food and fuel meant that CPI inflation still increased.

< p>Inflation measured according to the index CPI with fixed interest (KPIF), the index that the Riksbank now uses to set the key interest rate, fell by 0.1 percent from September and thus showed a marginal reduction in inflation, as a result of falling electricity prices .

– Electricity prices go down in October but they are still higher than last year, says Sofie Öhman, price statistician at Statistics Norway.
