Ryzen 9 7845HX (“Dragon Range”): 12-Zen 4-core APU has appeared in the AoS benchmark

The AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX (“Dragon Range”), an APU based on Zen 4 with 12 cores and a total of 24 threads for mobile use, is now in the benchmark database for the first time by Ashes of the Singularity (test). The APU specified with 55 watts(+) is strongly based on the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X (test).

Dragon Range and Phoenix come into play Notebook

As early as May, the first information about AMD Phoenix and AMD Dragon Range leaked out, which in the TDP range of 35 watts to 45 watts or 55 watts and more, the new Zen -4 architecture into the manufacturer's mobile APUs.

AMD Raphael, Dragon Range and Phoenix thus cover the range from 35 watts to 170 watts and all offer support for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 as well as an integrated graphics unit based on RDNA 3.

  • AMD Raphael, Zen 4, DDR5, PCIe 5.0, 65 watts+
  • AMD Dragon Range, Zen 4, DDR5*, PCIe 5.0, 55 watts+
  • AMD Phoenix, Zen 4, DDR5*, PCIe 5.0, 35 Watt+

*) the mobile CPUs/APUs also support LPDDR5

If AMD uses the same I/O die for its mobile SKUs, then the integrated graphics will probably be limited to just 2 compute units and 128 shader units in the desktop, as with the Ryzen 7000 (test).

On this point, rumors reached for the stars early on and spoke of up to 1,536 ALUs. As with Intel for years, there could be a dichotomy: The high-end solutions in notebooks, which are often coupled with a dedicated GPU, are more like classic desktop CPUs with rudimentary iGPUs, while the smaller variants remain full-fledged APUs .

The premiere of the HX series based on the Zen 4 architecture is expected at CES 2023, but details on clock rates and iGPU are still scarce. Twitter user @BenchLeaks found the Ryzen 9 7845HX entry.
