Domestic. During Saturday night, a man was the victim of a brazen watch theft outside a nightclub in central Stockholm. A suspect was later arrested and is now being held on suspicion of grand theft.

The crime victim was outside a nightclub. Suddenly an unknown man approached him. The man was perceived as approaching and started talking and in connection with this the plaintiff felt the perpetrator grab his wrist.
When the perpetrator left shortly afterwards, the plaintiff noticed that his watch was missing. A police patrol that arrived at the scene observed a man behaving strangely. The man was checked and arrested and is now suspected of gross theft. The watch was found near the scene of the crime.
– We can state that we had several similar cases over the weekend where the perpetrators seem to have targeted stealing more expensive watches or valuables from people who were out in the entertainment world, in connection to nightclubs and the like, says Ola Åkesson, municipal police, on the police's website.

On Friday 11 November, another person who was in Gamla Stan was the victim of a similar theft. In this case, an unknown man approached a man and asked if he could borrow a lighter.
The man was very close and the man who was robbed noticed that the perpetrator had a firm grip on his wrist. On this occasion, the man was robbed of his mobile phone which he had in his inner pocket.
Another similar theft took place during the night of Sunday 13 November in Östermalm. A woman got out of a taxi and in connection with that an unknown person came forward and grabbed her wrist. The woman then noticed that her watch was missing.
– It is unclear whether the various cases are related, however, it can be established that it is about the same mode of crime, says Ola Åkesson.
– As a general person, you have to be on your guard if an unknown person suddenly appears, is close, claims different things or tries or tries to grab one's wrist, for example, he continues.
