IONITY, the network is growing in Europe: more? 430 stations with 1,900 charging points

IONITY & egrave; was founded in 2017 and & egrave; a joint venture between carmakers BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes and Volkswagen with Audi and Porsche, along with BlackRock's Global Renewable Power platform as a financial investor. The goal, as we know, is to build a large high-power charging network (HPC columns up to 350 kW) in Europe to allow electric cars to travel long distances without problems.

Five years after the birth of this company, IONITY has decided to take stock of the situation and to provide some interesting data on the recharge service provided so far.

ONLY ENERGY FROM RENEWABLE SOURCES

They have been installed in Europe, (436 to date to be precise) equivalent to over 1,900 charging points. In addition, a further 56 stations are currently under construction. IONITY says that thanks to the electricity supplied up to now from its stations, electric cars have been able to travel about 850 million km , equal to over 1,100 trips to the Moon and back. The company & agrave; also remember that all its charging points only supply electricity; from 100% renewable sources that use wind, water, sun and biomass.

By 2025, the number of stations along motorways and high-traffic routes will increase; up to over a thousand. The current 1,900 charging points will become 7,000. New charging hubs with six to twelve (or even more) charging points will be created to meet the growing demand for charging points. Michael Hajesch , CEO of IONITY, commented:

To date we have more of 430 operational stations throughout Europe. Another 56 are under construction. These goals are only possible thanks to the great team that works in IONITY. I want to express my sincere thanks to all our employees and partners in Europe who reliably support us in developing and operating the fast charging network. Mobility electric & egrave; growing and the charging network constantly increasing. Furthermore, IONITY is investing in new technologies, products and services for stations with the aim of making recharging even more; simple and convenient.

THE NUMBERS OF ITALY

We recently talked about the growth of the charging network in Italy. IONITY adds that the use of the Italian recharging areas, between summer 2021 and summer 2022 is; tripled and quadrupled in the most important areas; frequented.

To date, the Italian IONITY charging stations have delivered a total of 5,508,366 kWh and the largest charging area; the Brenner one, on the Brenner – Trento – Carpi corridor of the A22 motorway, is confirmed to be frequented, which alone counted 2,733 recharging sessions in June of this year, with an average of 88.2 recharging sessions per day.
