Law & Justice. The Court of Appeal is now hearing the case of a Sweden Democratic truck driver who was expelled from the Transport union.

Professional driver Mats Fredlund was expelled from the Transportarbetareförbundet in March 2019 after being elected to the municipal council for the Sweden Democrats.
He was vindicated by the district court, which stated that “everyone's equal value” is not a valid reason to exclude members. For years, Transport has – with reference to “everyone's equal value” – excluded members who were active in SD.
“Only in dictatorships”
However, Transport appealed the verdict , and these days the case is being taken up by the Court of Appeal.
“Only in dictatorships does the state take the right to intervene in the internal affairs of a non-profit association”, it says in the association's appeal to the Court of Appeal, reports Transportarbetaren.
Mats Fredlund also appealed the district court verdict because the district court did not grant him damages for the exclusion.
