Today, the government appoints a national security adviser, who will initially be tasked with submitting proposals for how a function in the Cabinet Committee should be built up for coordination, direction and analysis of issues related to national security.
The security advisor must consider what organizational structure and what competencies are needed to complete the mission in the most efficient way.
The government appoints Henrik Landerholm to the role of national security advisor.
– Me and the rest of the government take a very positive view of Henrik Landerholm agreeing to become Sweden's first national security advisor. We now live in a time where many different threats can be directed at Sweden. It requires more of the collective ability to analyze and coordinate efforts against national security threats, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) in a statement.
Henrik Landerholm is currently director general of the Agency for Psychological Defense. He began his Army career in 1983 and is currently a Lieutenant Colonel in the Reserves. He has previously been a Member of Parliament for M and chairman of the Defense Committee, a member of the Defense Committee and rector and head of the Defense Academy as well as director general of the Folke Bernadotte Academy.
