Foreign. The number of asylum seekers from the third world has exploded in Germany and is now at the highest level since 2016, Remix News reports. The concern about the situation is spreading – and in Berlin a large so-called tent city is to be built to get enough accommodation.

According to the German migration agency BAMF, just under 24,000 asylum applications were registered in October, which is the highest number in a single month in almost six years.
The last time this figure was exceeded was in November 2016 when just under 25,000 applications came in.
Compared to October of the previous year, the increase is 80 percent. Asylum seekers' most common countries of origin are Syria, Afghanistan and Turkey.
Interior Minister Nancy Faeser from the Green Party is simultaneously accused of lying about the number of immigrants coming to the country.
While comparable grant countries like Sweden have tightening its asylum policy, the red-green government in Germany has instead created even more generous conditions for Third World immigrants who enter the country illegally and seek asylum.
Germany has also taken in an estimated 750,000 Ukrainians since Russia's invasion. However, these are counted separately and are not part of the normal asylum process.
According to an opinion poll by Tagesschau, 53 percent of Germans state that they feel a “great” or “very great” concern about “too many people immigrants to Germany”.
In Berlin, politicians plan to build a large tent city for up to 4,000 immigrants. According to Katja Kipping, senator in Berlin for the left-wing party Die Linke, this is necessary to temporarily calm the situation and “avoid acute homelessness among refugees”.
Similar tent cities have previously been built in other German cities such as Leipzig, Bremen and Munich.
