Open source media center: Kodi 20 (“Nexus”) can be tried out as a beta
The open-source media center Kodi 20 (“Nexus”) follows Kodi 19 (“Matrix”) and, after successfully completing the evaluation of a total of three alpha versions, is now available as a beta for the first time 1 to be tried by everyone. The free media center will receive numerous new features with the upcoming change to version 20.
Kodi 20 comes with an extended feature set
Kodi 20 Alpha 1, 2 and 3 is now followed by the first beta version, which brings the extended feature set to the Windows, macOS, iOS, tvOS and Linux operating systems as well as Android and the Raspberry Pi. The media center is experiencing innovations and optimizations in almost every nook and cranny and for all available platforms.

Kodi 20 (“Nexus”) also offers support for Apple Silicon and the M1 and the new M2 processors for the release.

In addition, optical data carriers are now automatically integrated under Linux using udisks. Unix-like platforms such as Android, Linux and macOS for Apple Silicon receive support for WS-Discovery (“SMB Discovery”).
In the Input area, new input devices such as the integrated Controller of the Steam Deck that runs with SteamOS 3.3 and the free desktop KDE Plasma is supported.
The Addons, Database, DVD and Games as well as the Filesystem sections also have the same with each Release mandatory optimizations and bug fixes received.

Some crashes in addon installation and repository checks have been corrected.
AlwinEsch has implemented a large feature to allow multiple instances of the same binary addon.

ksooo has been optimizing various things in our db wrappers for better performance.
DVD
Fix DVD Menu indicators for DRMPrime.
Games
Improvements and cleanups regarding controllers.< /li>
Fix crash if controller info files don't have correct info.
Filesystem
Fix NFS for Windows platforms after some recent NFS updates.
Several NFS improvements and cleanups.
Initial NFS4 implementation.
With the release of the first beta version of Kodi 20, the developers say they are preparing for the final evaluation and are expressly asking for feedback from the testers.
