At 30 km/h in most of the city & agrave; of Bologna . With a resolution of the municipal council, the guidelines for the implementation of the plan called & quot; Bologna Citt & agrave; were approved; 30 & quot; which aims to improve road safety . Bologna, therefore, joins several large cities that have decided to drastically lower the speed limits; within the entire municipal area to minimize the risk of accidents.

The & rsquo; goal & ldquo; zero deaths on the roads & rdquo; by 2050 & egrave; been indicated by the European Union and several cities & agrave; European countries, such as Brussels and Paris, are adopting the Citt & agrave; 30, which in the case of Spain is adopted with a law at national level.

IT STARTS IN JUNE 2023

The Municipality highlights that the minimization of accidents is; one of the objectives of the SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan). With the plan & quot; Bologna Citt & agrave; 30 & quot; the Municipality intends to implement a series of actions that will not only improve road safety but also promote mobility; sustainable and the increase in quality and usability; of the environment and public space.

As of June 2023, in most streets of the Municipality there will be & agrave; a limit of 30 km/h. We are not speaking, therefore, of the historic center alone but of the entire municipal area. There will, of course, be exceptions . On some high-traffic roads the limit will be; of 50 km/h. In addition, specific residential areas with speed limit will be created; of 10 km/h and priority for pedestrians on the entire roadway in the absence of sidewalks and pedestrian paths.

They will be 14 million euros invested to adapt road signs and to & quot; redesign & quot; roads through the progressive diffusion of physical interventions to moderate traffic and speed; (such as raised and colored crossings, bumps, supplementary horizontal signs) and optimization of vehicle parking. New speed cameras will also be installed. Obviously, I will not miss; an adequate communication campaign. Matteo Lepore , mayor of Bologna, commented:

We want Bologna to be a pioneer at national level on road safety. Our country deserves, after the law on road homicide and the law on the safety of children in cars, a law on cities; 30. I hope the government looks at Bologna as an example and starts discussing this.
