The U.S. The International Trade Commission (USITC) has launched an investigation into Samsung and TSMC for patent infringement in the mobile and semiconductor industries. The scope is not yet entirely clear, within 45 days an initial decision is to be made on how to proceed.

< p class="p text-width">The complaint alleges violations of section 337 based upon the importation into the United States, the sale for importation, and the sale within the United States after importation of certain semiconductor devices, mobile devices containing the same , and components thereof by reason of the infringement of certain claims of U.S. patent no. 9,831,306 (“the '306 patent”); US patent no. 10,319,812 (“the '812 patent”); US patent no. 10,700,178 (“the '178 patent”); and US patent no. 11,251,281 (“the '281 patent”).
Interestingly, the patents infringed are said to be formerly Intel and later patents other companies were sold. As a result, they tend to end up with patent trolls, whose life's work then consists of suing companies and squeezing money out of them. Ultimately, all major manufacturers have to struggle with them.
