In addition, a price ceiling on single tickets must be investigated, which means that enough single tickets during a period are automatically converted into a period ticket. In practice, therefore, a price reduction for those who travel often but do not have a monthly pass.
The background is that during the 2000s, SL has implemented such aggressive price increases that the number of passengers has decreased sharply, a development that gained momentum during the pandemic. At the same time, more and more young people are being driven everywhere by their parents.
Now the region hopes to get more people to return to public transport, through lower prices.
