Domestic. Self-sufficiency will become a requirement to obtain citizenship in Sweden in the future. This is evident from the government's agreement with SD, the so-called Tidöavtalet.

According to the agreement, a new investigation must be appointed which will produce proposals on how the rules for citizenship can be tightened.
According to a new main rule, self-sufficiency must be reintroduced as a requirement to “come into question ” for Swedish citizenship.
The fact that the requirement is formulated as a general rule with exceptions makes it possible to exempt, for example, those who have received asylum in Sweden and their relatives from the requirement.
Such a broad exceptions are currently found in the current “requirement” for support in case of family immigration, which means that the requirement in principle only applies to ethnic Swedes.
However, it is unclear what the exceptions in the new requirement should look like.
